At RIT the electronic gaming club set up a large LAN party to start off the new year. Games included TF2 and CS, basically a large group of computer users at a huge table, some wii blockes game, looked interesting, Sole caliber, and of course super smash brothers bralw. It was held in a nice fireside lounge with a pritry relaxed atmospher. I played some Melty blood and to my surprise alot of people knew what the game was. Some girl even told me she was cosplaying kohaku next anime con. There was an exceptionaly skilled peaniest who played video game song requests the entire time. I played some touhou but the only song people knew was dear you destructive. After jaming out to some tunes on the peano i heard that the brawl turnamnt was closeing and i figured i should join. I am in no way a serus player of brawl (I play SWR, IAMP, MBAC, GGXX, and EFZ serusly) but i can hold my own and figured it whould be fun. So i joined. It was 4 persion bralw 3 stock time 5 minuts no items and the stage was to be mutualy agreed upon by the players. I was in the last block. The turnament was verey exciting and fun to watch how ever there was one particular persion that no one was found of. If you have ever been to a turnament perhaps you have seen one of these people. The type of persion who makes the game less fun. He constly comented on ever ones chariter and told of there explots, quite loudly, and some advatages but how he chould all ways beet them with some clever startigy. He costenly talked about how people had flaws in there stratigy as they where playing! Things such as “this is going to be a boring match, zelda and pikachu! There both really bad chartiers <insert reasons why cirtun moves have crten flases here>. Pikachu is doing a terible job edge garuding he should use thuder to edje gard ext ext.” It was aparent that he was being realy obnous and ego tistical. As the game went on a friend of mine played a brilient game witch he wone as starfox, obvusly the best charter as it was declared by the loud mouth bandana guy. After congratulating him seeing that my slot was nerly up and he hadent played yet, i decided to bring up kirby (my main) and in particular his kurbicide stratigy. That guy claverly pointed out all the chariters who had simalar moves, like DK ext, and how it was kind of cheep but he chould easly avoid it at his high level of play. We sat down as our names where called. It was him as fox, 2 other people, luigi and zelda, and i deciede to whate till the stage was selected. After a few sujestions I came out with final destination, after a little debate of luigis mation we settled that final destination whould be a good map. The match started out with him and zelda duking it out while i doged luigis attacks and hit him with the ocasional puntches and air combows. I ended one particular combow that knocked luigi out rigt around when fox was knocking a stock off of zelda. This guy was verey good, theres no dought about that. He proceded to pummle me for a bit while zelda and luigi battled on the right side. While i was in the 100% mark I jumped off and swalled him and pulled the most perfectly timmed curbicided i posibly chould have. I spat him out and as he tryed to jump up, i knocked him down. As i floted up amdi chears from the crowd, fox mutter some types of curses under his breath and sware revenge on me, witch he did prity fast. It was 2 stocks all around but he made good time on zelda and luigi (I ended up dealing the final blow to luigi tho) and then came after me. After a short battle he knocked me off. As i came back into play he was pummling both zelda and luigi gating them both into the 100% markes and then got killed while i was stitting on the oposit edge just biding time. As it stood it was zelda and luigi in verey bad shape in the high 100% about to be killed and me and fox at zero percent. Fox wasted no time and dashed right out thowrd me. I juped back off the stage and sucked him in puting down my controler as I droped. I watched his face turn from angry to more angry amsgonst cheers and lafter amoung the croud. As i had a wide grin on my dace Fox turned to me and began cursing at me but i had already started to leave twards the peano to see my fireds. They thought that was brilliant and we talked about ecothers matches and how much fun they where. I was surprised when people came up to me quite frequently during the course of the lan party and asked me, “hay where you that guy who was kirby?!” to witch i responed yes and got high fives and you where awsom coments. I was verey happy and what I had done and relised that was the best bralw game i had ever played. The kid in the bandana spent the rest of the night blabing to any one who whould listen about how cheep kirby is and how he is really the best at bralw and how he whould have totaly wone the turnament has kirby not been so cheep. I was hoping he mite learn somting but I thought it made a good story any ways.
